Everybody wears underwear every day, so why can a tiny glimpse of it suddenly feel sexual? A man’s boxer waistband showing is often seen as casual, while a glimpse of a woman’s underwear can instantly feel much more suggestive. I wanted this painting to question why something so ordinary can be read so differently depending on who it’s on.
